21 Months

Hadley at 21 months you are  CRAZY about your sweet cousins.

You are busy, busy!
You are the joy on your momma's face!!
You are sweetness
 a bit cautious

And a lot silly!

You are so fun to be with and your personality is blossoming.

At 21 months you:
-Weigh 25 lbs
-You are not that interested in potty training, although you are very interested in the chocolate that comes from 'trying'
-Bossy could be your middle name right now.  You know what you want and what you want everyone around you to do.
-Your favorite things to do are coloring, playing with balls, riding in your wagon, looking at books, blowing bubbles, watching Bob, being outside, and eating raisins.
-You are a good eater.  You have started eating more meat and will try almost anything.  You don't like anything slimy like noodles.
-You talk up a storm ALL day, EVERY day.  You can say anything I ask you to.  My favorite thing you say is 'thank you momma'  It is cute seeing you put words together.  You talk a lot about colors.  When we ride in the car you point out colors that you see.   You recognize all of your colors.  Yellow, still tends to be your favorite because its the color of school buses :)
- Speaking of school buses if we ask you who is on the school bus, you will say 'kids' and when we ask you where the kids are going you say 'school'.  You are starting to put things together.
-You love playing with kids and dogs.  You talk about Cole, Chloe, and Kate Kate every time I tell you we are going to play with kids.  You look a little disappointed when I tell you they aren't going to be there.
-You are still a daddy's girl, unless you are tired and then I get some snuggles which I love!
- You are such a sweet baby girl.  You are growing so fast and your daddy and I enjoy every single minute with you!  It is exciting to see who you are becoming in Christ.  We love you!

***Thanks to my sister for always capturing HG in such a fun way!  Love you!

New Cushions

Awhile ago, when Josh and I decided to go and get HG a new table and chairs we decided we wanted one THAT day.  So, that means no Internet shopping, we were shopping the big city of Springfield.  We went to several different stores, but could only find this cutie at Target.

I liked the shape of it, but already I was running through my head how I could personalize it.  My initial thought was to put vinyl polka dots on the top (which I might still do).  My second thought was to put ruffled pouches on the back of the chairs to hold coloring books, but I realized that since I would have to make up my own pattern, I would be way out of my sewing league.  So, I finally decided I could make cushions.  I had some left over fabric that I could use and then if we decide to put this in her room later, I can make new ones that match.

They are reversible so if they get a little coloring on them I can just flip them over :)
HG seems to like them, although it's not a hard sell when it pertains to coloring :)

Guess who came to visit?

They are two peas in a pod, stuck like glue.
Pure Love!

We went to the duck pond yesterday morning and the ducks were more then eager to entertain the menu of bread.  Mom was trying to throw the bread as fast as possible to get some distance between them and the ducks.  It resulted in mom throwing an entire loaf of bread in under two minutes.  She might have a new career!

After the ducks we went to check out the water pump and the rest of the farm.

Her little cheeks get so red!  Little disappointed, but this is the only picture I got with her face in it.  She just moves so darn fast.

They took Bandit on a walk.  Hadley insisted on holding the red leash (which is super long) and also bossed Gram to hold the blue one at the same time.

Thanks mom for taking the time to come and hang out with us.  We love having you here!

Tasty Tuesday: Sirloin Skewers

I made these last week and they were a big hit.  They are a breeze to make and extra tasty!   Hope you enjoy!

    • 1 1/2 tablespoons ground cumin
    • 1 1/2 tablespoons cracked black pepper
    • 2 3/4 teaspoons kosher salt
    • 2 pounds boneless sirloin steak, cut into 48 (1-inch) pieces
    • peaches, each cut into 8 wedges
    • small red onions, each cut into 8 wedges
    • large red bell peppers, each cut into 8 (1-inch) pieces
    • Cooking spray
    • Sauce:
    • 1/2 cup chopped fresh parsley
    • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
    • 1 teaspoon olive oil

    • 1/4 teaspoon cracked black pepper
    • garlic cloves, minced
    • Parsley sprigs (optional)
    • Prepare grill.
    • To prepare kebabs, combine first 7 ingredients; toss well. Thread 3 steak pieces, 2 peach wedges, 1 onion wedge, and 1 bell pepper piece alternately onto each of 16 (12-inch) skewers. Place kebabs on grill rack coated with cooking spray; grill 6 minutes or until tender, turning occasionally. Place kebabs on a platter; cover loosely with foil. Let stand 5 minutes.
    • To prepare sauce, combine chopped parsley and next 5 ingredients (chopped parsley through garlic), stirring with a whisk. Spoon over kebabs. Garnish with parsley sprigs, if desired.

Watering Can

Thank you watering can for being invented.  We sure use you a lot around here.

 HG's feet need water too.

Dads office and Pink Jackets

These two things are two of Hadley's favorites right now.  She is a major daddy's girl and whenever he is working she wants to be right with him.  Josh had the good idea of putting a table in his office that she could sit and color at while he works.  In theory, that sounded like it would work.  In reality, she wants to be in dad's office, but have him sit with her at her desk and color :)  Let's just say nap time is invaluable around here!

You can see HG sporting a pink fleece jacket in these pictures.  She is probably the hottest natured kid I've ever met, yet she still insists on wearing a jacket.  This pink one is her favorite, but if its dirty, she isn't picky, just as long as she can wear one.  If I would let her, she would never take it off.  Sometimes, it's a little bit of a fight to convince her that she will stop sweating if we can just take it off.  Oh, and don't think for a second that you can leave it unzipped.  She says 'zip it mom, zip it mom'
Of course, I don't want to be left out of all the fun :)  Taking a picture, while taking a picture...my sister would be proud.

Smokin' Hot

The weather has cooperated and it officially feels like summer.  We decided to break out the swimsuit and head to the pool today, but unfortunately we found out the pool was having maintenance done today.  Plan B... get out in the sprinkler.    Hadley was unsure of the sprinkler at first and those of you who know HG well,  knows she was very cautious at first.  I'm sure you can hear her..'No, No' as she waves her hand at the sprinkler :)  Josh showed her how it worked and once she figured out that it wasn't going to attack her, she got right to business.

This is HG sporting her new swimsuit.  I am so picky and wanted the cutest swimsuit and I haven't found it yet, so I hastily head to Walmart (the only store in Republic) and find this cutie.  Heck, it was only $5 and looks pretty darn cute, if I say so myself :)

Josh showing her how it works

I was schooling HG on how to really play in the sprinklers :)

Taking a little porch break

The break was short lived as you can imagine, she is back at it.

Round two, minus the swimsuit.  The perks of living in Republic, MO :)

 Drink Break
Not sure if I've mentioned how fun it is to have HG.  Having a toddler to introduce stuff to is the most fun I've ever had.  It is simple stuff like sprinklers that let you enjoy being a kid again which, if you haven't figured out, Josh and I are BIG kids ourselves.  It is just that much more fun to see it through Hadley's eyes.  Tomorrow agenda...the POOL!!
